Marina Regulations and Code of Conduct
The Hayling Yacht Company Ltd
This Marina Regulations and Code of Conduct is intended to ensure the safe, efficient, and respectful use of The Hayling Yacht Company Ltd marina, boatyard, and associated facilities.
All vessel owners, tenants, contractors, visitors, and employees must comply with these regulations at all times.
Failure to comply may result in enforcement action, including termination of agreements, removal from site, or reporting to relevant authorities.
- General Conduct
1.1 All persons using the marina and boatyard must act in a responsible, courteous, and lawful manner.
1.2 Behaviour that may cause nuisance, disturbance, or risk to others is strictly prohibited.
1.3 The Hayling Yacht Company Ltd reserves the right to refuse access or remove any individual whose behaviour is deemed unsafe or inappropriate.
- Access & Security
2.1 Access to the marina and boatyard is permitted only during authorised hours unless prior permission has been granted.
2.2 All gates, doors, and security systems must be used correctly and must not be tampered with or bypassed.
2.3 Tailgating through secure access points is prohibited.
2.4 Visitors must be accompanied by a tenant, vessel owner, or authorised staff member at all times.
- Health & Safety
3.1 All users must comply with current Health & Safety legislation and site-specific safety instructions.
3.2 Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn where required, including but not limited to high-visibility clothing, safety footwear, and eye protection.
3.3 Open excavations, trailing cables, spills, or hazards must be reported immediately to marina management.
3.4 No person may work under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Vessels & Berthing
4.1 Vessels must be berthed only in their allocated berth or location unless otherwise authorised.
4.2 The Owner must ensure that at all times the Vessel is maintained in a clean and tidy state
and in a seaworthy or navigable condition (as appropriate).
4.3 The Owner must ensure that, while underway within the Marina, the Vessel is manoeuvred
and navigated:
4.3.1 with reasonable skill and care;
4.3.2 in accordance with any applicable speed limits and any other applicable laws or
regulations; and
4.3.3 in such a manner so as not to endanger or inconvenience any other vessels in the Marina.
4.4 The Owner must ensure that, while moored within the Marina, the Vessel is appropriately
secured using such number of fenders and warps of sufficient size and strength and in such
configuration as may be appropriate to the Vessel, the mooring and the anticipated weather conditions. Unless otherwise agreed by the Company, such fenders and warps shall be provided by the Owner
- Boatyard Operations
5.1 All lifting, launching, and recovery operations must be carried out by The Hayling Yacht Company Ltd or its authorised contractors.
5.2 DIY work is permitted only with prior approval and must not interfere with commercial operations or neighbouring vessels.
5.3 Grinding, welding, spray painting, and other hazardous activities are permitted only in designated areas and with written approval.
5.4 All works must be conducted in a manner that minimises noise, dust, fumes, and environmental impact. Ie, the use of hoovers should be used when sanding or grinding wherever possible.
- Contractors & Trades
6.1 All contractors and trades must be approved by marina management prior to commencing work.
6.2 Contractors must provide evidence of insurance, risk assessments, and method statements when requested.
6.3 Contractors must comply with all site rules, health & safety requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Environmental Protection
7.1 Discharge of pollutants, including oil, fuel, chemicals, paint, or waste, into the marina or surrounding environment is strictly prohibited.
7.2 All waste must be disposed of in the appropriate bins or facilities provided.
7.3 Spill kits must be used where required and any spill must be reported immediately.
7.4 Noise must be kept to a reasonable level at all times.
- Vehicles & Parking
8.1 Vehicles must be driven at low speed and with due care within the site.
8.2 Parking is permitted only in designated areas.
8.3 Obstruction of access routes, emergency exits, or operational areas is prohibited.
8.4 When parking in boatyard please leave your boat details in windscreen so that we can
identify and move the vehicle if needed or if going away for a period of time please ask the office where to park.
- Storage & Materials
9.1 Storage of equipment, materials, and personal belongings must be kept within designated areas only.
9.2 Storage must not create a hazard, obstruction, or environmental risk.
9.3 The Hayling Yacht Company Ltd accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to stored items.
- Fire Safety
10.1 Fire extinguishers and emergency equipment must not be misused or obstructed.
10.2 Hot works require prior written permission and must follow the site hot works permit procedure.
10.3 Smoking is permitted only in designated areas.
- Pets & Children
11.1 Children must be supervised at all times.
11.2 Dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
- Compliance & Enforcement
12.1 The Hayling Yacht Company Ltd reserves the right to amend these regulations at any time.
12.2 Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in warnings, suspension of access, termination of agreements, or removal from site.
- Acceptance
Use of the marina and boatyard constitutes acceptance of these Marina Regulations and Code of Conduct.
